Bowhunting Records of Utah

Several years ago, a small group of serious and dedicated bowhunters stopped talking about doing something special and did it. It was an enormous project that took a great deal of time and effort to pull it off. Bowhuting Records of Utah started to take shape. In 1990, the first edition of the Bowhunting Records of Utah was published. 500 copies were printed. The Banquet that followed was a huge success. Finally, the bowhunters in Utah were being recognized for their hunting success and accomplishments. The deer head logo, in my opinion, is one of the best and most recognized logos in the state of Utah.

A special recognition and a huge thank you needs to go to the Board of Directors of Utah Trophy Archery Hunters. The men behind the Bowhunting Records of Utah; David Nielsen, Dennis Shirley, Karl Hirst, Bill Krenz, Mark Stevenson and Larry Mathis. These are the men who stopped talking about recognizing the bowhunters in Utah and finally did something about it.

I worked with these men in putting the first records book together. It was a huge effort and took several long evenings sitting at a computer trying to get the formatting to look just right.

Now, almost 18 years later, it is time to take the Bowhunting Records of Utah to the next level. It is our intention, by adding Bowhunting Records of Utah with the Utah Bowmen's Association to continue to recognize the magnificent animals taken each year with archery equipment.

On this webiste, we will try to keep the records up to date with the top 5 animals in each species.

Stay tuned, it can only get better.
